I live in SC and wfh for a company in CA. No business is conducted for anyone in SC. I received two w2s. Do I need to report the SC W2 I received? Very confused.

Both states took out money for federal income, state, social security, and Medicare. Is this accurate or should only one state have taken those out?

Did they issue one W-2 and an overflow W-2 form because they could not report both state info on a single form ?    Did they duplicate your entire annual wages in box 1 on both forms ?

If you're a non-resident of CA and you never actually (physically) performed any work in CA, then your W-2 income from that work is not subject to CA income tax.  If your employer mistakenly withheld CA income tax, then you'll have to submit a non-resident CA tax return on which you report the withholding but allocate zero income to CA, in order to receive a refund of the incorrect withholdings.

Your income is 100% taxable by your resident state of SC, regardless of its source.
