I live in North Carolina. My job moved to South Carolina at the end of 2016. Should I have filed my taxes with NC and SC?

In this situation, you would need to file a non-resident tax return for South Carolina, and a resident tax return for North Carolina because you earned income in one state but lived in another. Make sure that when you file your state returns you do them in the order of non-resident and then resident. This makes sure that your income earned in South Carolina is not double taxed.

I filed with Turbo Tax. How come it didn't catch this so I could have filed correctly? How do I fix this since I already filed my NC residence tax back in February?

How long during 2016 did you work in SC?
