I live in michigan state. But my employer is in New york city. Will I have to pay state tax for both the states when I file tax. I am non resident newyork state.

I live in michigan state. But my employer is in New york city. Will I have to pay state tax for both the states when I file tax. I am non resident newyork state.
If your W-2 shows withholding for NY you would first complete your federal return, then your non resident NY return and lastly your resident MI return. Michigan will give you credit for your NY tax that you paid.
