If you have been a resident of Illinois for more than 90 days then you are required to get an Illinois drivers license. Illinois can expect you to have an Illinois drivers license for purposes of filing your income tax return. If you really don't want to get one you can print and mail your tax return.
I am not a resident of Illinois. I only work there. I live in Missouri.
If you are a first time filer in the state of Illinois, you need a valid Illinois driver's license o...Since you are not a resident of Illinois, you will have to file your nonresident return by mail.
This is the 8th year I have filed nonresident Illinois taxes online. I have never had this problem before.
You can also try using a IL-PIN to e-file the Illinois state return. Instead of looking up the number by license or ID, select your prior year AGI. You can also call the state at 800-732-8866 to retrieve your PIN.
If you cannot obtain an IL-PIN and do not have the proper identification, you may need to mail in your return.
This must be a glitch in the system this year, I have filed 8 times before as well, never had an issue, now my illinois return keeps getting rejected, I keep getting prompted to fix the weight on my driver's license, and keep getting rejected, my federal return went through no issues, my girlfriend also is getting the same issue, her federal return already got accepted and we received the money, this is beyond annoying, I don't wanna switch platforms, but I will if needed
I had to print it out and mail it in. Guarantee that TurboTax still charged me to efile the Illinois tax return that they did NOT efile on my behalf!
Yea i want my $78 dollars back for the state filing fee, $39 for my girlfriend and $39 for me
Illinois uses the ID verification to prevent fraud. Try entering your actual resident license number instead. In the FILE section, you can indicate that you don't have a license or ID, since you already filed your Federal return successfully.
Here's info about Refunds.
I tried all of that. It was still rejected. I ended up mailing it. Unfortunately, TurboTax still charged me to eFile a return that I had to mail. Frustrating.
Please see this help article for information on the specific situations in which you could qualify to apply for a refund of the cost of e-filing your State return when you had to mail it in after it was rejected.
Can we put 0 if we do not have a license?
@kishcooper You can check the option for Do not have a license or state ID
@DoninGA @MonikaK1 @MarilynG1 I did that, but it still requires me to enter the "weight on license" in section 5 of the Ilinois Information Worksheet" .
