I just paid my MD state taxes using the comptroller of MD website. At what point will I see a zero balance owed reflected on the turbotax site? Please advise.

you'll never see it on TT website.  Federal and State governments don't don't provide any of your tax info to TT including penalties, changes, payments, etc.

Did you already file the return?  You will never see an update on Turbo Tax.  The IRS and state do not update Turbo Tax when they get your payment.  Your return will always show the final result of tax due or refund.  That's the state of your return when you filed it.

Your only proof of payment is your bank account or credit card showing the payment.
