I had a NOL in 2015 but moved mid year in 2016 and am filing taxes in two states.

Can I carryforward the loss and use the deduction for both states this year, or am I only supposed to claim the amount in the one I was living in in 2015?

The NOL carryover would only apply to the state you were living in at the time of the net operating loss.

You cannot claim any of it against the state you moved to in 2016.
