When you entered your form 1099-R in TurboTax, you should have seen a screen that said Massachusetts Special Handling About this 1099-R that you needed to complete to have your pension treated properly on your state tax return. After your return is processed, you can log back into your TurboTax and file an amended return to correct it if you missed this step.

The retirement income on the 1099R is correctly handled on the federal return. On the Massachusetts return it is ignored. I did not specify any Special Handling for the Mass return, ie. no Keough or anything like that. The distribution is entered in the state oart of the 1099R. Thanks
