I filed my 2018 taxes using Turbo Tax. I paid the indicated $1,421 to the State of CA. I just received a $3.00 refund from the State. Why?

Once a tax return has been accepted by either the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further communications from either the IRS or State concerning the tax return or a tax refund.

The state should be sending you a letter in the mail within a few weeks explaining the reason for the refund.

at the time of submission it showed to me that i will have return of 5116$ from federal , today IRS statusYour refund has been applied to a past due IRS tax obligation.
