The year-to-date totals on your pay stubs will show Social Security and Medicare withholding.
You can also calculate the amounts. Social Security withholding is 6.2% of W-2, Box 3 Social Security wages and Medicare is 1.45% of W-2 Box 5.
You can estimate the New York amounts in Box 3 and Box 5 based on the months/days you lived in NY and multiply by the percentages.
FICA and/or Medicare are federal deductions---not state deductions. Not sure what you mean or what you are trying to do.
As I am filling out the state tax return for MA, it is asking for the non-MA FICA and Medicare earnings, but none of my W-2s have that broken down. They just have the full amounts. I lived and worked in MA for part of the year and in NY the other part - so I have to file taxes for both states. I am trying to determine how to break down those earnings.
