I earned and lived in GA while my wife did the same in MN. In order to file "married filing jointly" in state how do i make MN not tax my GA income & vice versa?

I am a GA resident and my wife is a MN resident for tax purposes. I have been unable to find a way to only allocate my income to GA and my wife's to MN. Turbo tax is double taxing both our incomes in both states. Which exact form or page do I change this?

In TurboTax, in the Minnesota state income tax return, select the Nonresident income tax return.

At the screen Income Allocations, make sure that the correct Wages and salaries is reported to Minnesota.

In the Georgia state income tax return, at the screen Did you have more than one state of residence in 2025, select Yes.

At the screen Dates of Georgia Residency report the taxpayer living in Georgia and the spouse did not live in Georgia.

At the screen Georgia Part-Year and Nonresidents, Wages are allocated to Georgia.

Thanks for the response.

I followed the steps mentioned for the MN tax return. I chose non-resident tax. I am taken to a page that says: enter the amount taxable to MN. There are two columns labelled "Federal" and "Minnesota". The "Federal" column is autopopulated. I filled in the amount of income that was earned in MN (which is a small fraction of the total income).

I then went through the rest of the steps for MN. But at the final summary page, it still shows the full large amount as "Minnesota Taxable Income". What am I doing wrong?

MN does tax total income and then multiplies your MN % of income times the tax. Take a look at your MN return:

Line 28 - wife's income

Line 29 - total federal income

Line 30 - the MN % of income

Line 32 - actual MN tax

GA sch 1  line 4 will show the credit for tax paid to MN.
