If you have wages from New York sources, you will need to contact your employer to request another copy of your W-2 Form. You will want to ensure the amounts you report on your New York return match the amounts reported to the taxing agencies to avoid any delays in processing your tax return.
If you are unsuccessful there, you can always refer to the following information on the IRS website. You can either request a copy if you submitted a copy of your W-2 with your tax return. Or you can contact the Social Security administration to request a copy as well.
I assume you mean that you worked for the state of NY. Not that you have a federal W2 but are missing a NY W2. That is a different issue. If that's the case ask again.
This FAQ below describes in detail what you should do if you do not receive a w2.
Basically contact your employer (or their payroll service). Often you can get a PDF online. If that doesn't work the IRS may be able to help. But they are overwhelmed these days and thus slow. Finally after you have tried all of that there is a special form you can file in lieu of getting a w2. But you will need all the info. You can probably find that on your last 2020 paycheck stub/advice in the year to date section. Much better to use the numbers from the actual W2 or the IRS transcript.
