First be sure you have indicated in federal "My Info" section and then on the first page of the AR state interview that you are a part-year resident.
Then, you just need to click through the AR state interview and "Eventually" you will first arrive at the page to allocate interest and then dividends and then for the rest of your income streams on a page title "Arkansas Part-year and Non-residents".
You will be able to allocate the income to AR that belongs there.
Thank you for your reply. I worked my way through the AR state interview for part-year residents a number of times but I still do not see a place where I can specify the amount of salary/wages that should be allocated to Arkansas for state income tax purposes.
This differs from my experience with the WI state interview for part-year residents which included the following screen to allow me to verify the salary/wages earned while I was a Wisconsin resident:
"Wisconsin Salary Allocation
Verify the salary and wages you earned while a Wisconsin resident or salary and wages you earned in Wisconsin while a Wisconsin nonresident. Change the amount if necessary."
Below is a summary of the screens I see for AR income allocation (notice I am not presented with an "Arkansas Salary Allocation" screen):
1. "Part-Year and Nonresidents
We’ve already transferred any interest or dividend income from your federal return.
Next, we need to know the amount taxed by Arkansas."
2. "Arkansas Interest Summary
For each item below, select “Edit” to enter the amount you received while a resident of Arkansas. If none, enter 0 (zero)."
3. "Arkansas Dividend Summary
For each item below, select “Edit” to enter the amount you received while a resident of Arkansas. If none, enter 0 (zero)."
Do you need to split your W-2 wages? TurboTax will automatically transfer to the AR 1000NR form any W-2 Box 16 wage amount and Box 17 state income tax with an AR state code.
If the Arkansas wage is incorrect, you will have to manually change the AR state wage amount (Box 16) on your W-2.
