I am a teacher in Michigan and received a payment from the state through the MI Classroom Heros Support Covid-19 Grant. How do I claim this on my taxes?

Please follow the steps below on how to input information on Form 1099-Misc which you would have gotten for the Hero Pay:

1) Open your Return and click on Tax Home from the Left Menu.

2) On the main screen, please click on Income & Expenses.

3) Scroll Down and you will see an option for Other Common Income.

4) Within the Other Common Income Section, you will seen an Option for Form 1099-MISC.

Neither my wife nor myself received a Form 1099-MISC for this payment.

If you did not receive a 1099-MISC, then please follow the steps below on how to report that income in TurboTax:

1. Click on Tax Home on the Left Side Menu.
2. Click on Income & Expenses on the main screen and select Work on Other Income.
3. Scroll Down and the last section you should see is "Less Common Income". Within that, select Miscellaneous Income.
4. When you are in the Miscellaneous Income Section, scroll down till you see "Other Reportable Income". Click Start next to it.
5. Then you can enter the description of the Grant and amount you received.
