You may or may not be a Maryland resident. Even though you may have maintained a place of abode in Maryland and if you failed to satisfy 183 days minimum time you should have been present in Maryland, then you are not a Maryland resident. Or depending on how you count 183 day and you figured you meet the 183 days rule, then you will be considered resident in Maryland for tax purposes.
Thank you, I am still a Maryland resident. My question was whether I should file for my new york taxes as a nonresident or as a part-time resident?
Since you were in New York for less than 183 days, you would file as a nonresident.
