Unemployment benefits are typically reported on Form 1099-G and not on a W-2.

Did you receive an 1099-G for the unemployment benefits?

California does not tax unemployment benefits and therefore, you may not have a filing requirement in California if this applies to you.  Please see the link below for more information on unemployment benefits from California.

I did receive a 1099-G.  Would I then have to report Unemployment Benefits from California on my Colorado State tax return?

Yes, since you are a resident of Colorado, you will need to report the unemployment income on your resident state tax return.
