How to claim my state taxes

When your prepare your federal return the information flows to the state return in TurboTax.  If you prepared a federal return, then you can pretty easily do the state return as well.  It is now too late to use online software or e-file though so you have to use downloaded desktop software and then print, sign and mail the return.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS and/or your state received the return.
