how do i allocate income to california as a part year resident of california filing jointly with spouse that was a non resident of california?

i lived in california for 5 months before moving to ny with my spouse, who lived in ny the entire year. i'm guessing i need to allocate 5 months of my income to california, but do i also allocate 5 months of my spouse's income (earned in ny) to california if we are filing jointly?

You would file a part-year return for California and only allocate 5 months worth of your income to California. None of your spouse's income will be taxed in California, even though you are filing jointly.
