I should have one state free, and I am doing my first state e file and it is wanting to charge 24.99. Why?

In the Desktop program, You get one free state PROGRAM download to prepare unlimited state returns. Then each state return (including the first one) is 19.99 to efile, usually goes up to 24.99 March 1. Or you can print and mail state for free.

I wonder if this issue is due to the state returns were not downloading and I just spent 1:36:33 on the phone with support who had to force the Indiana form to down load. I didn't see the window on the reinstall where it showed the state to be free...hmmmm

There is no issue.  Each state is 24.99 to efile.  There is no free state efile.   The state download is free.  Did you also end up paying 44.99 to download the state program?  That you can get refunded.
