I started with my current employer in mid-July 2018 (so <6 mo. for 2018). Company HQ is in NY, the office I "work in" from a reporting structure perspective is based in SF but I live in MO and work remotely. I received W2s for both MO and CA, so I'm assuming I'll need to file in both of those states, but do I need to file in NY as well? TurboTax seems to think that I do.

If you work remotely from your home in Montana, then all your income is considered earned in Montana.
You also pay state tax in Montana. If you have state tax withheld in California, you must file a non-resident tax return for CA to obtain a refund of state tax paid in CA. You do not file to file state tax for NY.
