Are you talking about form W-2?
Boxes 15-17 are used to report the amount withheld for state income tax.
But states like Washington do not have a state income tax, so entries here make no sense.
If box 17 is blank, then you can blank out boxes 15 and 16.
If there is an amount in box 17, then come backs and tell us.
Yes, I know that WA State doesn't have state tax, that was/is what is confusing....why would there be any entry there anyway? What does that signal or mean?
I entered what was in the boxes for better or worse.
You do not have to enter anything in Box 15 or 16 because there will be no entry for Box 17 (State Income Tax Withheld). If there was an entry on your W-2 for Box 15 and 16, then it was most likely informational.
However, there should be no problems entering what was on your W-2 in Box 15 and 16 since you live in a state with no income tax. Whether you input it or not, there will be no tax consequence to you.
