Does a 1099MISC from a CA company require a California state return?

I live in NYC, but have a 1099MISC income form from a company based in California, do I need to file a California state return?

If you lived and worked in NY, and the 1099MISC was just issued from and address in CA, then you don't need to file a CA return.

Just live if you lived and worked in NY, but your W2 was issued by your employer's company located in a different state, you would file a return for that different state either.
