Hello -
I'm using TurboTax Home&Business on my desktop. I am a self-employed contractor who received a 1099-NEC from a company I worked for. This company was in New York and I worked entirely in New Jersey.
I have reached a question that is asking: "Do You Have Any New York State-only taxes to return?"
Do I?

You wouldn't have any tax obligations in New York since you didn't live there or work there, so you don't have any New York State only taxes to return.
So it doesn't matter at all where the company is and I don't have to file taxes in NY?
Normally this is true. The only exception is if you telecommuted, where you worked from home as opposed to working at an office in New York. But since you are a contractor, this would not apply to you. Also, note that I assume you don't live in New York, since if you lived there you would have to pay New York taxes even if you worked in New Jersey. The fact that the company was located in New York does not make your income taxable there.
Great info and correct, I do not and have not ever lived in New York.
