Neither Florida nor Tennessee have a state income tax. What are you trying to do?
Hi,
I made a typo in my comment. I am a resident of Florida and I worked remotely for a company based in Tennessee as a 1099NEC and then in Mississippi for 3 months in 2021. The form was asking me to fill out a TPP and a DR-405. I doubt any of those forms apply to me and I cannot proceed to file my return.
FLORIDA
Florida does not have a state income tax. You should have skipped the FL tax unless you own rental property in FL or a FL based business.
Florida has a tangible personal property tax form that is used in a Florida-located business or rental property and is filed with the county property appraiser by April 1st.
If you do need to file a Form DR-405, nothing will print (except an instruction sheet) unless assets were transferred or you manually entered assets in the DR-405 worksheet.
If you do not have tangible personal property to report, choose Skip State in the State Taxes section.
If you proceeded past the warning screens, try deleting the Florida return --> https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1900608
@conknee21 And........it is unclear what you did to work in Mississippi. Do you mean you physically performed work in MS or do you mean you worked remotely for someone in MS while living in FL?
Thoughts @TomD8 ?
@conknee21 --
If you actually (physically) worked in Mississippi, the in the Personal Info section of TurboTax enter FL as your State of Residence and indicate that you had Other State Income from MS. This will prompt the program to generate a non-resident MS tax return. Income you earn by working in MS is subject to MS income tax. The fact that your employer is based in TN is irrelevant. You are taxed based on where you actually worked, not on your employer's location.
Florida Form DR-405 is not an income tax form. If it applies to you, then you submit it to your local county property appraiser. This web reference explains:
