Please explain further what you mean by "NC prepaid taxes."   Did you make quarterly estimated payments toward your 2021 state taxes?  Or did you have an overpayment (refund) last year on your 2020 state return that you applied to your 2021 state taxes?   Or possibly both types of payments.   Or what?

Both of the situations I mentioned are entered on the Federal side of the interview and flow to the State return.

We can give you the steps to get to the place to enter them when it's clear what kind of payments you made.

I prepaid the estimated tax for North Carolina out of two 1099 forms from National  Financial Services and Defense Accounting and Finance Service. The payments appeared in box 14 on the forms and did not transfer from my federal return to the state return.

Go back and check the 1099R entries that you picked the right state in box 15 drop down.  That's easy to get the wrong state.

If you edit or review a 1099R it does not keep your answers from before but resets them to the defaults. Then you have to go through and answer them all again. So be sure to go all the way to the end of the 1099R section.   Then start the State tab over again to update the State.
