Can I deduct for texas state sales tax on general everyday purchases, i.e., not just on cars, boats, large purchases? Thx!

Turbo Tax is giving me a Texas local and state sales tax deduction

$ amount even though I made no large purchases. Can I get this?

You can claim either Income Tax withheld on your earned income, or a Sales Tax deduction based on your family size and income, whichever is greater.

If you had no State Tax withheld on wages (or a small amount), TurboTax will give you this table amount if that amount is larger.

If you had purchased a large item, you can add that amount of tax to the table amount.
