California State tax filing if you own rental but no income

Hello! We live in Washington, but purchased rental property in California last year.

I am claiming net loss for my California property. Since I have no income, I am good with not filing California state tax?

Thanks so much!

In your post, you state that you had no rental income but are claiming a net loss.  Why was there no rental income?  If the property was not available to rent then you can not deduct expenses for the time it was unavailable to be rented and would not be able to claim a net loss.

Thanks for the reply Leonard. I had income but due to depreciation there is net loss. This is already accounted for in my federal taxes.
