CA Mortgage Interest not carrying over from federal

I noticed that my mortgage interest for 2021 did not populate when I started the California portion of my taxes.  It appears that last year it carried over.  Anyone know why this is happening?

CA Mortgage Interest not carrying over from federal

Check your Mortgage Interest entry in your Federal return to be sure you indicated 'mortgage is secured by your residence'  (checkbox 2d on Home Mortgage Interest Worksheet).

One user said that changing this allowed Mortgage Interest to flow properly to California Schedule A.

I updated the desktop software and it is still not carrying over the mortgage interest deduction for the California return.  It is remaining as a CA standard deduction and not an itemized deduction.
