Both my husband and I took deferred comp payments at age 59 1/2. His was a subtraction adjustment on state and mine wasn't?

He took 3 payments at the end of the year.  I took 1 payment.  I turned 59 1/2 during the tax year, but didn't withdraw until after I turned 59 1/2.

We'd have to know what state you are living in to answer your question. You may not have received a subjection adjustment due to the differences in the types of pension (government vs private). Or it may be due to whether you did or did not meet the minimum years of service requirement. Or you may have entered your information incorrectly.

Thank you.  We live in new york state (not nyc). We both contribute to the same deferred comp plan through nys.  I work for a city police dept.  He works for a housing authority.  We are both csea employees. Does that help?

Also.  He was doing periodic payments for 3 months.  Mine was a single withdrawal. Is that why?

They are all being taxed as normal distributions.  That is exactly what should have happened.  Enter them as they have been put on the form and you should be good.
