AZ state tax ded. federal return vs Sales Tax Deduction. AZ Income Tax Ded = $1912 vs. Sales Tax Ded = $1561. Cannot get back to larger after trying the Sales Tax Calc.

AZ state tax ded. federal return vs Sales Tax Deduction. AZ Income Tax Ded = $1912 vs. Sales Tax Ded = $1561. Cannot get back to larger after trying the Sales Tax Calc.

TurboTax will automatically take the higher deduction for you.  If you are not Itemizing Deductions, the State and Local Income Tax amount will be used. 

If you are itemizing, there is a limit to taxes you can claim in 2018.

In FORMS mode, you can view the State and Local Tax Deduction Worksheet.
