1099 Misc box 17 and 18 - cash for keys

I paid my tenant "cash for keys" and removed my house from the rental market.

I'm reporting the amount in box 3 "Other income"

I did not withhold any Federal or State taxes from the cash for keys payment.

I am in California and I do not have a CA (8 digit) ID number.

What do I put in box 17 and 18 on form 1099 Misc?

Box 17 "State/Payer's state no.": enter "CA" and leave the "Payer's state no." blank?

Box 18 "State income": enter amount I paid the tenant?

or leave both boxes 17 and 18 blank?

IF I leave box 17 "Payer's state no." blank, will this cause a Turbo Tax "error flag" when the tenant uses Turbo tax to file their return?

Thank you.

If you didn't withhold Federal or State taxes from the payment you made to your tenant, then you can leave boxes 4, 16, 17 and 18 blank.
