Tax Paid to Missouri

I was a partial resident of two states. I was a resident in Kansas from 1/1/203 to 11/29/23. I moved to Missouri 11/20/23. My income was earned while I lived in both states. I need to know what is required for the Kansas return. I figured out what the total tax to Missouri is however, I am not sure what amount to put in the "Income Taxed By Missouri", and the "Income Earned in Missouri While You Were a Kansas Resident" field. I am not sure of what amount to pick up from the Missouri return.

@pamwill62 you need to be preparing "part year" tax returns in both states.  Yes, that means you need to purchase an additional state tax return from TT.

the fact that TT is asking how much you earned as a resident in one state while working in another tells me you are not using the correct tax return.

Each state states on its own.  You calculate the income earned while living in KS and the income earned while living in MO and report them separately.  There should be no income that you earned in one state while living in another.

the "income taxed by MO" is the income you earned from Nov 20 - Dec 31, since you lived and worked in MO during that time.  The "income earned in MO while a KS resident" is ZERO.
