Question

NYS department of taxation received my return from Turbo Tax. However, although I had a refund listed on the return, NYS says it showed 0. Any ideas why?

I double checked my return on TurboTax and it clearly shows a refund amount listed. This is the return that was accepted via email. When I finally received the refund which was in the amount that was on the return I submitted, the NYS taxation department explanation was that the return showed a refund of $0 and they had to take time to calculate the refund before sending it so it. Has anyone else had the situation where the tax return received by the state did not match what was submitted electronically? I have not had this happen before.

The New York refund listed on your return submitted electronically through TurboTax should match the amount the NYS taxation department has in their system.

If the letter from the state indicated that they had to calculate or adjust the return, the only explanation I can think of is that some additional information or change may have been submitted while the original return was still being processed, such as an Amendment.
