Non Resident VA State Tax

I moved to NC in 2019.  Because I voluntarily take out state taxes from my retirement, I forgot to change the state that I paid taxes to in June 2021 to NC from VA.  When I try to tell Turbo Tax that I didn't really earn money in VA, it keeps asking me to give the City or County that I lived in VA on the form.  I have checked that I did not receive money as a VA Resident and that it was an error, but I can't get past the form asking for my VA residency information.  HELP!!!!!

You want to enter the county that you lived in when you last lived in Virginia. When you are putting in the information for your 1099-R, make sure to enter 0 for the Virginia amount in Nonresident Income Allocation. Do not just leave it blank or it will assume the entire amount is taxable by Virginia.

If Virginia taxes were withheld from your income in error, you must file Virginia Form 763-S in order to obtain a refund.  Here's a link:

    https://www.tax.virginia.gov/sites/default/files/taxforms/individual-income-tax/2021/763-s-2021.pdf

The form can't be e-filed and must be mailed in.
