MD State Tax: Part-time resident when new spouse was a non-resident
My wife and I got married in 2025. She was a resident of Maryland and then moved to NY to live with me in June 2025. We are filing joint federal tax return and a joint NY resident return. We were trying to file a joint part-year resident MD tax return however, Turbo tax does not appear to be able to correctly edit/update the fact that only she was a part-year resident (I was a non-resident). Maryland tax instructions indicate that this can be correctly done on form 502: “Married taxpayers who file a joint return when one spouse is not a resident of Maryland should place a “P” in the part year resident box and enter the name and the other state of residence of the nonresident spouse.” but turbo tax doesn’t appear to allow this and just lists the same information for both of us on the form (6 months part time resident listed for both tax filer and spouse). How can this be corrected?
