Question

I live in Florida for all of 2025 and have a salary. I am a partner in an LLC in Wisconsin. TurboTax is mis-allocating my salary to Wisconsin. How to fix?

I should pay tax on the Wisconsin LLC income, but I should not be paying tax on my salary to Wisconsin.

To fix the allocation so you only pay Wisconsin tax on your LLC income and not your salary, you need to adjust the wage allocation within the Wisconsin state interview section.

You can correct this allocation by following these steps in TurboTax Online:

  1. Go to State Taxes in the left menu and select Your State Returns.
  2. Click Edit next to your Wisconsin nonresident return.
  3. Proceed through the Wisconsin interview screens until you reach the Wisconsin Salary Allocation screen.
  4. Change the dollar amount in the Wisconsin box for your salary to 0.
  5. Keep your Wisconsin LLC partnership income fully allocated to Wisconsin as reported on your Schedule K-1.
  6. Continue through the rest of the state screens to save your changes.
