How many times can I claim solar tax credit?

Hi,

I was wondering how many times I can claim the solar tax credit. For example, suppose that I already claimed the 30% tax credit for a solar system that I installed. Now I want to upgrade the system adding a couple of more panels. Can I claim the tax credit for that upgrade?

You can claim the solar credit for the new equipment being purchased and installed, but not the original equipment where the credit has already been applied.
