How to respond back to the question and i did not work in NY in 2020

You have to provide more details. Where is the question that you are trying to respond to? What is the exact question? Did you get a letter from the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance? If so, what does the letter tell you to do?

What exactly is missing? Did you file a New York tax return for 2020?

Did you live in New York State in 2020, for all or part of the year? Did you have any income from a New York source in 2020, such as property or a business in New York State? Did you have any gambling winnings in New York State in 2020?

Did you get a W-2 for 2020 that has NY in box 15, even though you didn't work in New York? Did you work remotely (telecommuting) for a company that was located in New York?

Did you file a federal tax return for 2020? If so, did you put an address in New York State on the federal tax return?
