Can sales taxes of a state other than your state, hotel taxes, or taxes on airline tickets be deducted as general sales taxes on line 5a of Schedule A?

    Yes, you can deduct sales taxes you paid to any state or local jurisdiction even if you do not live in that jurisdiction.  If you paid state or local sales tax on your hotel or airline tickets, then yes, you can deduct that too.
