I received a 1099-nec. the question is asking did you make these payments for your freelance waitstaff work. yes or no

Usually, 1099-NEC forms are issued if you have a business or worked as a contractor.  When you enter the information the program will ask you for what type of work you did while earning that income.  If you earned the income while doing waitstaff work, then answer yes.  If not you can enter what type of work you were doing.
