To have the income reported as "Other Income" as opposed to self-employment income, when you answer the questions in the section where you enter your Form 1099-MISC, you have to indicate that you:
1. Did not have a profit motive for earning the income reported on the Form 1099-Misc
2. You only received the income in 2025 and not the year before or after
3. It was not associated with your job
How you answer those three questions in that section will determine how the income is treated as self-employment or as "Other" income. The answers won't appear on your tax return, they are just there to help determine how the income is treated.

Thanks. I did that and (I think) it worked. BUT, the questions for which you provided the workaround should be clarified before next season (or even now if you can move that fast.)
