How do I file my 1099-Nec that I got from a previous employer I worked for because it's asking if I own the business when in reality I don't?

A 1099-NEC reports self-employed income.  That is  considered to be your own business and not an employee who would receive a W-2.    In this case you are your own employer and are contracting you services to another  business.
