"Do Not File" is printed on my Home and Business Tax Return.
As of today's update 2/19/2026, I still have "Do Not File printed on my tax return.
I do not have anything flagged in forms. Smart check is green, no errors.
I waited today for the final TT update for rental assets. That one is good.
My printed forms still say "Do not file". Why?
What forms are still waiting for updates?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Make sure the TurboTax software is at the latest release. Click on Online at the top of the desktop program screen. Then click on Check for Updates.
If the software is updates and the problem persists, then manually update the software.
See this TurboTax support FAQ for a manual update - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/update-products/manually-update-turbotax...
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, I already did the latest update. Still the same problem.
I am using TT Home and Biz, desktop version.
Any other ideas? Thanks
@Dude3145 Did you get the manual update from TurboTax as suggested?
Yes, I just downloaded the manual updates.
The forms still say, "Do Not File."
Any other suggestions or ideas.
Thank you for your help.
@Dude3145 First, save the tax return and close the TurboTax program.
Make sure you are running the program as an administrator
Right click on the TurboTax icon
Click on Properties
Click on the Compatibility tab
Check the box Run this program as an administrator
Click on Apply and on OK
Start the TurboTax program again and see if the problem persists.
If it does, close TurboTax and then close the computer and re-start.
Start the TurboTax program again and see if the problem persists
If it does, uninstall TurboTax and then re-install the program.
I uninstalled the program.
Regedit, software TT files cache, temp, etc remaining residual files deleted.
New fresh TT reinstall with current program updates.
I am still getting the same "do not file" printed on my return.
Any new ideas are welcome.
It would be helpful to have a TurboTax ".tax2025" file to test this issue further.
If you would be willing to send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information, please follow these instructions:
In TurboTax Desktop, open your return and go to Online in the TurboTax header. (On a Mac computer, choose Share or Help.)
We will then be able to see the same experience you are having. If we are able to determine the cause, we'll reply here and possibly provide you with a resolution.
There is no need to file 'State' since I live in non-income tax state. Yet it persist in asking me to file State.
What is the problem.
There is no state under forms.
With a lot of research on the forum, the problem is TT.
The 'Do Not File' printed on my estimate tax payment vouchers, are due to TT not updating the forms.
Here is a link to the estimated release dates of ALL forms.
Keep this link for future use. It will save a lot of headaches!
Just knowing when they will release them is helpful.
@Dude3145 You posted "Do Not File" is printed on my Home and Business Tax Return.
The estimated tax payment forms 1040-ES were not mentioned. If you had mentioned those forms we would have been able to inform you that they were not yet finalized but should be available on 02/25/2026.

If you want to mail in one early you can print it out from the IRS and write in your personal info and amount
https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040es.pdf
I get prefilled 1040ES from the IRS each year with my personal info. So I just hand write the amount on those. Then they also fit in the envelope the IRS sends with them.
Are you saying that since the 'Do Not File, Form Not Final' warning on all estimated payment vouchers. Is the only forms preventing me from filing? The rest of the 1040 return with all schedules are good to file?
Are you having trouble efiling? Don't know about other forms in your return but having Do not file on 1040ES should not prevent you from filing.
I just checked my return. I filed on Feb 4, 2026 and already got my federal refund. My 2026 estimates say Do Not File. The 1040ES forms don't get filed with your return. They are for you to mail in with a check. So you can change the amount or pay online. They are optional to use. The IRS doesn't get them so they won't be expecting them.
