There is no "chat" - only this user-to-user forum or the link given above to contact customer service for paying customers - no phone service for free users.

i have paid and completed my 2018. irs is saying theres a problem with 2017 that was also paid.

If you received a notice about 2017 that asks for additional tax and you agree then just pay the tax, otherwise if you disagree then the letter should tell you how to dispute it.

It's hard to comment without any info about what the IRS is claiming about 2017.  What kind of letter did you get?  There should be a CP or LTR number in the right corner.

 

If you purchased Audit Defense product, we can tell you how to contact the company that handles that.

 

If you did NOT purchase Audit Defense, you can still use the free TurboTax Audit Support Center and speak to the folks at TurboTax for help with your IRS letter.  This is a different and more-specific contact method than what you already tried.  At the link below, click on the blue "Get Help" button and follow the prompts to get the phone number.   Hours are 5AM-5PM Pacific (8AM-8PM Eastern) Monday-Friday.

You need to register a 2019 online account to access prior years

Or go to this IRS website for free federal tax return transcripts - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

For a fee of $50 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

There is no requirement that you pay for a 2019 online edition to access our prior year online tax returns.  You only need to start a 2019 online return using the Free edition and register the Free edition so you have access to the prior year online returns.
