Question

In my selfemployment expense (positive net income) I was adding Part B and Part D for self and spouse. But the deduction is not showing up for tax reduction?

Social security premiums:

  • Sch 1 line 17 shows the self-employed health deduction - which would show parts B and D.
  • The deduction is only allowed if you have a profit to cover it.
  • Medicare Parts B and D will not show on your Sch C since they are an adjustment to total income (Sch 1).
  • Parts B and D do not reduce your business income or self-employment tax.
  • Sch 1 is reducing your taxable income.
