Yes--you have to.   ALL of your income goes on the same tax return.   Since you have a 1099NEC with self employment income you will need online Premium to prepare a schedule C for your business expenses.

Yes you can enter a W-2 as an employee and a Form 1099-NEC as self-employed using the same tax return.

If you are going to use the TurboTax online editions you will need to upgrade to the Premium online edition - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/premium/

Yes, you should report both your W-2 and 1099-NEC on the same tax return. They are filed together on one Form 1040. Your W-2 is entered as wages, and your 1099-NEC is reported as self-employment income.

Take the following steps to report the 1099-NEC information:

  1. Go to the Schedule C screen under Wages & Income.
  2. Answer Yes to Did you have any self-employment income or expenses?
  3. Answer the questions on the following screens regarding your work
If you land on Your 2025 self-employment work summary, select Add another line of work.
  4. When asked to enter your income, select and enter the info from your 1099-NEC form.
