Hi,

For the 2024, we had our rental home water leak damage that was not covered by insurance. Adding that as part of the casualty damage losses. After smart check, it says Form 4684 p2 not available to submit at this time. What does this mean? Downloaded and says it is up to date and has no updates available

Biden passed a law in December that affects that form so the IRS and states are busy updating the forms and amended return procedures. You can use the form for your Sch E casualty loss as that is not related to the law change.

All the software has to be changed by the IRS and states, then we are allowed to update and file. Hopefully, it will be soon.

Please check forms availability here. Keep an eye on the amended date since those are linked.
