I just started a new position as a 1099 employee in August. Should I be filing quarterly taxes the remainder of 2023? Or should I just set it up starting in January? What months are quarterly taxes due?

Hi @Mikayla Bugh and thanks for the question!

Yes you will want to start estimated payments. Q3 payments are due September 15 and Q4 payments are due January 15. Please check with your state to see if Q4 is also due in January. Most states follow the IRS on this date, but some do not. The first year as a 1099 or self employed individual is the trickiest but take a look at this article: TurboTax Guide to Estimated taxes
