So he was supposed to receive the deposit on the29th but my bank rejected it before the 29th. So should I just wait until after the 29th and check on the IRS portal for an update? Are you sure it will come in one or two weeks ( not saying you lying or anything) I just want to make sure because I don't want to get his hopes up high

Hello Everybody,

I hope everybody is staying safe and keeping well during this quarantine but I have a question I was hoping someone can help me I wanted to help my boyfriend who is on SSI to receive his stimulus check faster, so I put his information in through the non-filer portal through IRS. He doesn't have a bank account I used my prepaid American express serve card for his banking information and I submitted it well fast forward a couple of days later I was looking at my card information and something just told me to read the policies to make sure and I never read the polices since I had the card. I found out I couldn't do it and found out I couldn't so the day before he received a NetSpend prepaid card in the mail so I opened it and quickly went to the IRS portal and updated his banking information. Yesterday we were checking to see if his status updated yet and it stated he will receive it on the 29th so I get an email today saying the bank rejected it, So I'm trying to figure out will it go to his Prepaid card or will it be mailed?

PS. I feel so bad because I tried to help and I **bleep**ed up excuse my language

The IRS doesn't attempt to direct deposit a 2nd time. The check should arrive within 2-3 weeks of the payment "bouncing".

The IRS timeline appears to be about 2 weeks from the time that it's rejected, to the time a check is sent. Obviously it's impossible to "guarantee" anything, but that should be a good guideline. Good luck!

The "Get My Payment" tool will change to reflect when the check is scheduled to be sent, although most people actually receive their check before that date. The tool is only updated once per day, so no point in checking more often that that.

So will it be sent to the address that's on his non-filers tax return? And so should id check back after the 29th? Because the bank keeps sending me an e-mail stating that they couldn't' deposit accept my deposit and it tells me to contact the institution that issued the check but its no way to contact the IRS. So does it automatically get sent back to the IRS when the bank rejects the check?

They would be the only possible source that could give you more specific answers, if you or he are able to reach them. Good luck.

I went back on the IRS portal to check for an update it gave the option to enter his direct deposit information so when I did it wanted me to enter his AGI but his is on SSI and don't file taxes so I put 0 then it gave me the option to choose either receive a refund or owe money and I can't choose either one because he is on SSI and he never files taxes. So it won't let me go pass the page without choosing an option so I'm trying to figure out will he still receive his stimulus check in the mail?

The same thing happened to mine. Serve has really done some damage to me this time. They don't do business with a lot of people. They failed to let me know they were not allowing payment to go through on my electric bill. I thought I was going crazy that it wasn't paid. So right before this whole coronavirus thing happened I was about to be disconnected because serve was not paying the ACHs I set up for my bills.

NOW 5/22 THEY REJECTED MY STIMULUS. Every day I GET 3 OR 4 EMAILS THAT SAYS THAT THE PAYMENT IS UNABLE TO BE ACCEPTED. IRS HAS A NEW BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER BUT IT IS TOO LATE FOR THE DIRECT DEPOSIT. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NO HELP THEY SAY IT WILL GO THROUGH. I AM JUST DONE WITH EXPLAINING MYSELF. I CANT WIN. AMERICAN EXPRESS HAS BULLIED ME FOR SO MUCH MONEY AND I AM DISABLED AND I AM EXHAUSTED. IT ISNT RIGHT AT ALL.
