I entered the wrong amount for the outstanding mortgage principal, how can I change it

Do the following to make your changes.

Go into the Federal program.
Select "Deductions & Credits"
Select "Mortgage Interest and Refinancing (Form 1098)
Continue through the screens and enter information as prompted in the screen that asks for the details from your 1098. The box for your outstanding mortgage principal balance will be in this screen.

You can make your corrections here and continue with your return.
