So I elected to receive direct deposit for my tax return but I forgot 4 numbers on my account number..how long will it take the IRS to send a paper check

Sorry if you efiled it is too late to change it unless it rejects for something. Just like dropping it in the mailbox, you can't get it back.

if the IRS can't deposit it they will mail a check to the address on your return.

When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.

I set up direct deposit for my taxes and left one number out.

It depends.

If you have not filed your return yet, you can make this change in the File section of the program.

Changing Direct Deposit information

Entering bank direct deposit information

If you have already filed your return and it has been accepted, you cannot make any changes to your return as it has already been transmitted to the IRS. If your bank account is no longer there, the deposit will be rejected and your refund will be mailed on a paper check to the address on the tax return filed.

Can I just tell you that you’re not the one that messed up it was TurboTax they left off the four numbers of my account also and my tax refund was sent back to the IRS they’ve had it for over two weeks they’ve still not sent it to me And now Wednesday my stimulus check is supposed to be deposited into the same account that doesn’t exist because they took off the last four numbers of my account
